Overview
This policy explains what information MovieBox collects when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We have deliberately kept the site's data footprint small.
Information stored on your device
MovieBox stores a small amount of data locally in your browser:
- Your light or dark theme preference.
- Your playback position for titles you are watching, so playback can resume.
- Your most recently viewed titles.
This information never leaves your device. Clearing your browser storage removes all of it.
Information we collect
We record basic, aggregated usage data to understand which parts of the site are useful:
- The page path requested.
- A device category (mobile, tablet or desktop).
- The referring site, when your browser sends one.
- A one-way hash of your IP address, which cannot be reversed to recover the address itself.
We do not collect names, email addresses or payment details, because the site does not ask for them. Search terms entered on the site are recorded in aggregate to identify which titles people are looking for.
Cookies
A single session cookie is used to keep administrative sessions secure. It is marked HTTP-only and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. Visitors who never sign in to the admin panel are unaffected by it.
Third parties
Video content is served from third-party hosts, and poster artwork is loaded from a content delivery network. Those providers may see your IP address and browser headers as part of serving the request. Embedded analytics, if enabled by the site operator, are governed by the provider's own policy.
Your choices
You can block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. The site will continue to work; you will simply lose your saved theme and playback position.
Children
MovieBox is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the site evolves. The current version is always available at this URL.
